The disciples thought the man’s disability was a result of personal sin (before he was even born) or as an inherited-parental sinful consequence. Disease and suffering exist because humanity and creation are fallen; God had a plan to send Jesus to heal and above all the save (all humanity and creation). The blind man did not come to Jesus and ask to be healed (all he could see was darkness). Jesus came to heal him in a very unique and the least expected way ever.
